Meet the Interventionists
Katey Crowley
My name is Katey Crowley and I am one of the Reading Specialists and ESL teachers at Bridge Point Elementary. This is my 14th year in education and my 12th year at Bridge Point. Before becoming a Reading Specialist, I taught 2nd grade in San Marcos for two years and 3rd grade at BPE for nine years. I am proud to be on the RtI team and am looking forward to another great year!
My husband and I were married in June 2010 and have a four-year-old daughter, and a little boy on the way. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends, traveling, trying out new local cuisine, and watching movies together.
I was born and raised in Austin, and went to Texas State University for both my undergrad (2005) and Master's (2010) degrees. Go Bobcats! While there, a professor summarized a well-known concept: "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime." My goal is to teach my students to "fish," so they will be successful and life-long learners.

Melissa Hahn
My name is Melissa Hahn. I have taught at Forest Trail, Eanes Elementary, and now Bridge Point Elementary. My undergraduate degree is from The University of Texas, and my master's degree is from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State!). I have one daughter who graduated from Westlake, and is now a lawyer in McKinney, Texas.
Shane Oberle
My name is Shane Oberle and I am a reading specialist at Bridge Point Elementary. I have the great privilege of being Mom to my twin 19-year-old boys Alex and Sam and wife to my amazing husband Michael. We live an interesting life as boarding faculty at Saint Stephen's School right down the road from Bridge Point. My boys headed to college last fall so we are "empty nesters!" We enjoy hiking, geocaching, and playing board games as a family. Michael and I also enjoy cycling on all of the great trails around Austin. In my limited free time you will find me reading, knitting, or quilting. We are definitely busy!
I have been a part of the Eanes School District for over 15 years. I started as a Substitute Teacher at Bridge Point when my twin boys entered Kindergarten, moved to a full time Teacher's Aide position, and now I am the Dyslexia Specialist and one of 4 Campus Support Specialists for Bridge Point.
While I was in college to obtain my teaching degree, I taught at an amazing childcare center in New Haven, Connecticut. We were a group of teachers that believed learning begins in the first days of life, and we based our teaching on the “Theory of Multiple Intelligences” by Howard Gardner. I was inspired by the ways that each child responded to different intelligences. These experiences led me to believe that we must constantly work to find the best way to reach every child. I love this process and cherish the days when a child finally "gets it" for the first time!

Nancy Turner
I have taught in EISD since 1983 and been apart of the Westlake community since that time. My family and I lived in Lost Creek for many years and my children have graduated from WHS, although both adults (and parents) now. I have taught regular classroom and special education since 1975. I have retired from full time teaching and been lucky enough to be rehired for 4 hours a day as a Campus Support Specialist (Response to Intervention, (RTI), Dyslexia and ESL. I love my job and all the people I work with.
